The singer admits that My Chemical Romance’s record label were unaware they were shooting the video for Na Na Na - which won Best Video at this year’s NME Awards – because they asked for such a small amount of money.
“Na Na Na was a video that we made in the desert, no rules, nobody telling us what to do. We asked for real little money and did whatever we wanted,” he explained.
The rocker said that nobody was “pulling the strings” during the process of making the video. He says that the band members were the ones with the ideas. Gerard has revealed that he concealed the video as a “trailer” which is why the label handed over such a small amount of money.
“That never happens anyway, but there was definitely no-one watching us. The record label didn’t know what was going on, they knew some s**t about this muscle car and some s**t about rayguns and this corporation, but they had no idea what it was really about. I said ‘give us a little money to make this trailer,’” he added.
